About: This piece is a TRUE Tribal Masterpiece. Hailing from the Northwest Mountains of the greatest rug weaving country of all time, and arguably the most desired rug-weaving district ever. I have named this piece Apollo, after my favorite Greek God, the God of the Sun, amongst other things. The sun is the most powerful thing in the universe, it is all-encompassing and it reminds me of this piece because not only is this truly a mighty and powerful piece, but it also seems like a/the source of power. An incredible sprawling blooming jungle design with growth and movement on the tip of its tongue, with abstract geometric flora, tulips, branches, vines, palmettes, seeds, and other village motifs all influenced by the weaver's surroundings. A genuine antique gem that was woven with hand-spun wool and organic natural dyes. A very tight weave speaking to its attention to detail and excellence in her craft. This piece reminds me of the colors of DUSK glowing and kissing the terracotta Spanish roof tiles on the top of a Mediterranean Valencia villa. The colors are copper, salmon, terracotta, coral, variations of rust, umber and amber, soft clays, camel and mocha, sand and chocolate with even hints of espresso, with the deepest bands of indigo, navy, smokey midnight blue, even oxford blues with inky blue-black in the field as the canvas for these hues to all pop. The irresistible birthmarks with the striations of softer blues with muted minty-pale blue freckled inside the jagged leaves and jutting branches throughout. The iconic border gives us that clean and abstract contrast with the round flower motif flanked by the linear jagged leaf motifs - this main border is also decoratively framed by the lovely barber pole and inverse flower and valley motif; this is amazing attention to detail with an artistic soul to consider the structure of the border to attempt to contain the wild and relentlessly chaotic and beautiful field. This is just one of those pieces that is a high-end jewel from top to bottom - it's nearly in mint condition for a century-old antique rug - it's crazy!!! For you designers out there with clients that don't want to settle, or for the clients out there that are the picky and thoughtful person with an appreciation for art in their veins and a soft spot for design in their bones - this is PURE ART. Incredible quality wool, dyes, and weave - top-notch piece right here. There is no doubt that this will go to a seeker and lover of the cream of the crop.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
