About: THE MOST DESIRED RUG ON THE MARKET - a truly jaw-dropping piece.  If you understand old tribal rugs from the Northwest of Iran, then you know that it is fairly uncommon to see the navy ground, let alone in this design, let alone in this size, let alone in this sensational border color, let alone with this many unique highlight colors like emerald and sunflower, but ESPECIALLY in this incredible Mint Condition.  100-Year-old piece with a remarkable weave and quality in knot density, with very soft plush organic hand-spun wool that drinks us natural dyes better than any other material in the world.  This piece glows due to its wonderful and natural lanolin in the wool, and I've always said that high-quality materials will always remain high-quality - and these dyes are a perfect testament to that.  After a century of time, these dyes have aged so well and matured with grace still so rich and clear.  It is astonishing to witness this piece because this village typically doesn't weave larger rugs, they are known for smaller pieces and narrow runners - so to see a larger rug is always a treat - and for that treat to be navy ground, tons of greens, and a soft clay-apricot border is a treat x 1000!  I called this piece "Stargazer" for a reason - the iconic Karaja motifs throughout this piece fill it up the way the stars fill up the night sky.  You can see different sized motifs throughout adding such depth and interest to the piece because that change in scale interrupts your eyes keeping them engaged and fixated on the rug.  If every star in the sky was the same size, it would still be beautiful, but almost dizzying a bit - but, because each star is a different distance and a different size, there is interest in the lack of symmetry and un-uniform shapes that pull us in, just like in this piece.  Tons of pinwheels, geometric flower motifs, stars, leaves, etc.  The abrash (natural variation in dyes from small-batch dyes) also is one of the most alluring elements to this piece.  The shifts from emerald to grassy green, the fact that there are a handful of different blue hues in the field of the rug in just one square foot is insane (see pic 10). The back of the rug shows you just how small the knots are, and just how tight and compact this piece is woven.  This is a very fine Tribal piece, and you can see how every knot is a different shape, again, just like the stars in the sky.  Knot one knot is the same.  This is real, raw, and everything that you want in this mystical art form.  You won't find this piece again, not in this quality, size, color palette, condition, and price.  This piece at a retail rug store can easily sell for nearly $20K if not more to a serious buyer that wants only the best.  High-End Nomadic Art woven with an unmatched combination of love and skill is what this piece encapsulates.  I hope you see in it what I do, and sincerely understand that if you are looking for a 10/10 piece, here it is.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
