Name: MUTED Vintage Heriz with Quiet Power in Soothing Color Palette | Sand, Walnut, Sage, Seaafoam, Slate

Size: 10 x 13

Age: Antique/Vintage, C. 1940's or so

Pile: Low/Medium pile with some age-related wear and patina throughout - amazingly character-rich piece with a departure from the Traditional colors as this piece has been "antique washed" which essentially is a process that strips away the darker colors and tones them down into a calmer palette. This process has been around for a very long time mainly for older rugs and people that want genuine age, genuine good quality, but a softer palette. You can easily go and buy new commercial grade rugs with these colors, but they don't contain the character, genuine patina, or history that these older ones do. IMPORTANT: not all "antique wash" processes are the same. MOST of them do a horrible job - they do it fast, cheap, many at a time, and do it extremely harshly nearly damaging and weakening the fibers of the rug. And the worst part is how well (or lack there of) they've rinsed the rug after this process - I typically do not bring these types of pieces in in but my designers have demanded I do so here we are! I love color but I've always said there's a time and a place for all rugs - I see the appeal of these pieces and I'm very picky, so the ones I bring in are extremely beautiful to me and really make a room exhale which I love. The most important thing that was nonnegotiable for me abut bringing these types of rugs in was that I didn't want any harsh chemical residue in the fibers of the rug, so I finally found a vendor that tests the water that they rinse the rug with so much and only when that water is drinkable is the process done. I have yet to speak to another company that does this, especially from overseas.  So, I spend more with this specific vendor that does all of these tests to make sure I'm not selling junk to my clients with chemical residue on their rugs. You need to be VERY careful who you buy these antique washed rugs from.

About: This large of a tribal rug with masculine motifs and angular elements that add a nice aesthetic appeal, but with an earthy, airy, and cool palette that calms the space. This piece doesn't disrupt any of the other element in the room, but is an all-encompassing piece that will stabilize and ground it. It can be the first or last piece you decide to do in the room - very easy on the eyes as the main colors of this piece is a nice sand and a soft taupe, accompanied by almond, walnut, softer cashew hues, with wonderful seafoam greens, sage greens, slate blues and wonderful softer cool shades.  This rug is a beast, and really one of the better muted pieces I've ever seen from this family of rug.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
