Name: UNREAL Funky Antique Northwest Persian Rug | Two-Toned Clay/Rust Beauty 

Size: ~ 10.2 x 11.4

Age: Antique, C. 1920-30's

Pile: Low/Med with gorgeous character-rich patina throughout. This piece has been re-sized by a master weaver far before we got it.  The rug has lots of old repairs, re-weaves, touch-ups etc.  If this was in Mint, Untouched condition it would be 2-3x the price; but it is just such a beautiful and unique rug that I would put it up there in my top 5 most unique pieces we've ever had!! 

About: ABSOLUTELY one of the rarest and most uncommon pieces we've ever had.  I can't even explain how unique this piece is... Bohemian meets Funkadelic meets Old-World nomadic charm - it is a piece with this complex root and branch design that sprawls far and wide throughout the entirety of the piece.  The colors are truly some of the best and most vivid dyes around - Energized Grassy Green, Perfect Rusty Clay, Caramel and Mocha, Deep nearly Black, Ice Blues, Deep Inky-Indigo, Dark Forest-Hunter Green, and the most Beautiful Marbling Amber-Clay field color to meet a warm Rusty-Red.  MAGICAL DYES which lead us to believe this piece is Kurdish, but the weave itself puts it somewhere between the West, Northwest of the greatest rug-weaving country on the planet.  If you can use this piece without worrying about the re-sizing and all that jazz, then this is absolutely your piece.  

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available. 

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
