Name: PURE KASHMIR SILK Vintage Room Size Pictorial Piece; "The Royal Hunt" Terracotta, Indigo, Sage Green

Size:  9.1 x 12.7

Age: Vintage; C. 1950

Pile: Silky smooth (literally) with a fantastic glossy glow that illuminates when the light touches it.  Even pile throughout with some minor traffic wear but nothing crazy.  Some subtle light spots from perhaps wear or traffic, but there is no super worn areas and what is there is minor relative to the rest of the rug. Aside from some lighter areas and some age-related patina here and there the rest of the pile is exceptional.  For any SILK rugs, I would always gently recommend that they be placed in lower traffic areas given that silk is not like wool - and in return, silk offers the eyes and touch something that wool simply cannot - but they are two different fibers and remember to be mindful as context is always important.  Will it be OK if you place this piece in a medium-traffic room? Yes, probably you will be fine - but if you can place this in a gently used or lower traffic space that would ensure that this piece lasts another 100 years!  These pieces are all durable because they are genuinely hand-knotted which is the strongest construction of rugs, but I always try and caution on the side of being safe  - if you have any questions at all don't hesitate to reach out. I don't want you to think this piece is fragile, because it is NOT fragile at all, but it silk is not as strong as wool so keep that in mind!

About: THE ROYAL HUNT, need I say more?! I will write more on this soon but HOLY SH*T this is a BEAUTY!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
