About: Should I begin with the UNBELIEVABLE weave and workmanship? Or the ULTRA high-end wool that gives this piece it's glow and sheen? Or perhaps this ANCIENT design that is reminiscent of the Safavid Dynasty rugs from the late 16th Century... Close your eyes and point to place on this antique runner and I will tell you why it's amazing - everything about this piece speaks volumes to what a nice attractive and amazing quality rug should have. The field color is a mix between terracotta and rusty-clay, the electric blues sing-off of this piece, with the charcoals, deep indigo, antique beige, teals, and blue-greens, alike. TONS of Abrash (the natural variation of organic dyes) and it speaks to the nomadic and spontaneous nature of the weaving. When you see this rug with your eyes, the glowing nature it has is from the lanolin in the wool. Good wool mixed with good dyes are like peanut butter and jelly - they are a match made in heaven. You will really note the glow in the abrash from jet midnight black to oxford blue in the border, and even in the palmettes in the field where th teals and seafoam greens shine. The vines work their way up meandering through each one-of-a-kind palmette, giving us a nice suggestive "pull" towards the rug. Given its age, this piece has a couple of ancient repairs where at some point someone secures some of the areas by hand. It was never shortened or adjusted by its length, which is relatively common in some of the pretty antique runners that were used up the stairs in huge Eastcoast Estates back in the day, or adjusted in length for unique hallways, kitchen, or even foyers - but this piece was never shortened, just secured and fastened in a couple of areas that were done very, very well. All in all, this piece is a real beauty, and I know wherever it ends up - it will elevate the woods, natural stones, leather, and/or whatever other elements and fabrics are near it. A TRUE gem.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
