About: There is a reason why I named this rug after my favorite Greek God, Apollo; the God of the Sun, amongst other things. This rug to me is as powerful as the sun. Bold, powerful, present, unignorable, and all-encompassing. It combines ancient motifs such as the Herati, or Fish Garden design, along with with the ancient "boteh" or paisley design, and the timeless cypress tree motif. Even the use of little animal motifs spontaneously throughout add to its neverending charm. And of course, the color palette. Search the world for another rug with the insanely symbolic and beautiful combination of blue (sky) and brown (ground) symbolizing balance, and not only one shade of blue and one shade of brown, but this piece relentlessly uses various shades of blues and browns to dance with one another throughout the entire piece. In addition, the amount of blush, rust, and other warm tones really bring a depth to the color palette. The erratic and never rehearsed bands of abrash are to die for, with bands of black inside the blues and bands of blues inside the browns. The ocean blue border with teals and blue-greens poking through simply put the cherry on top of this true nomadic antique gem. A subtle and stark medallion creates a focal point to get center, only to quickly have your eyes sprawl outward into the perfectly balanced and layered design. One subtle mark near the medallion as I've pointed out in a picture, it's barely noticeable and in my humble and truely unbiased opinion, not even really noteworthy. This is a true work of art from top to bottom; size, color, design, age, condition, quality, authenticity, and uniqueness.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
