Size: 4.3 x 6
Pile: Low with some patina
About: The workmanship in this piece is simply unbelievable. Thousands of tiny little knots tied one at a time to create a masterpiece with the iconic Herati design. This piece is well over 100 years old and hails from one of the greatest and most sought after villages ever known. There are some subtle age-related issues like minor cuts on the border that can be secured and a small piece about the size of an inch or two has been re-secured onto the rug itself. Deep black border with lovely stylized and artistic floral motifs. The field is packed with the folklore-filled fish and world motifs and accompanied by the small but strong corner spandrels and even the hidden animal motifs ever so small and subtle that represent protection of this rug from negativity. I call these rugs the "Iron Flower" rugs because they are so delicate yet so strong. You cannot fold this rug, it will be sent to you rolled up around a tube and simply unroll it and lay it on the pad and enjoy it. If folded it will crack (which is very common for these ancient pieces that are this finely woven from this small village). It's almost as if they wanted to pack so much beauty and knots in this rug that they went overboard! So you just have to be mindful, lower traffic area is ideal but itâll hold up with the pad as well in a decent traffic area too. Some parts are frayed, there is one small 1-inch x 1 inch (roughly) square that has been secured to the rug with some of the rug missing a little (see pic), and not too bad when laid down and with a pad underneath. Someone decided to try and save it and fill that area with the true piece of the rug and not add another rug to this rug to try and patch it. Some spots seem to have a lighter finish to it, we've clean this rug thoroughly so I think it'll be hard to remove, but all in all, this is sold as-is, hence the price, and all in all just a true tribal masterpiece. If you need more videos or pictures at all, just let us know!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
