About: How could it be that one rug is even capable to capture the excellence and jaw-dropping beauty of the classic Persian design, yet honor the impossible-to-ignore nomadic heartbeat of a village rug? How could one rug tip-toe on the tightrope of Traditional and Tribal? Only one village can do such impossible feats - that's the village of Sarouk, Iran. And at the top of Sarouk rugs, you will find Mohajeran Sarouks. And at the top of Mohajeran Sarouks, you will find the Navy field with red/berry border Mohajeran Sarouks. Unique, yes. Incredible quality, yes. The epitome of Ralph Lauren style? Yes. And this rug even has elements of a painted Sarouk in the border, with the feel, body, and quality of a Mohajeran Sarouk - which I've never seen before. But it doesn't stop there, the design alone is mesmerizing. You can't NOT see poetry when you look at this rug. You can't NOT see movement, dance, nature, and other forms of art in just this one piece of art. It's impossible. Exgaratted willow-like branches swooping down in the shape of vines and stem with the iconic Sarouk flowers blossoming off them, surrounded by bouquets of flowers, leaves, and more floral motifs. Why do I call this rug downright lustful? Because when you feel this rug, you never want to stop touching it. The wool is baby lamb wool, softer is an understatement. Soft isn't even in the ballpark of what this wool feels like. It feels like the intersection of lustful and luxurious, let's just call it "lustful". When you touch it your hands almost feel oily because of how much lovely lanolin is still in the wool, which is a mighty compliment to those that washed and hand-spun the wool for this piece. I haven't even gotten to my favorite part about this rug... Of course, this rug has the timeless color palette of the Sarouk carpet, but what gives this rug its unparalleled character is the amount of mocha/soft espresso color in it. It's unlike any Sarouk I've ever seen. The weavers have created this deep navy, indigo, red, berry, antique beige, rose, camel, soft blue color palette, and decided to make this earthy walnut color a major role in the rug - and it's simply divine. The color brown in rugs is a symbol of representing Earth, or dirt, or soil, or terrain. To me, this decision to use this much of this color creates this balance of lofty, airy, whimsical and flowy design and brings it down to Earth - cementing this piece in a very subtle way. It's absolutely remarkable. I've tried to capture the color palette for you in some of the pictures, but of course, like all pictures, it doesn't do it the justice it deserves, but I do think you'll notice and appreciate how unusual and pretty it is.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
