About: Such a stunning piece.  There aren't many weavers and villages that can pull off the challenging feat of weaving a rug that crosses the chasm of both Classic Persian with nomadic DNA; this rug does that. Botanical and elegant vines and linking stems connect to iconic flowers and flora inspired by the environment of these weavers.   Incredibly soft, high-quality, lanolin-rich wool pile with genuine age-related patina throughout give you a sense of quality and age all in one.  A closer look, you will see that the weave itself, although very fine, is one of a tribal "village rug" style than a traditional "city rug" style; which can only tell us that this was woven in the region of the Central-Western part of the epicenter of where hand-knotted rugs hail from, Iran. This village weaves counterintuitive rugs because they are one of the only weavers to walk the fine line between nice piled rugs which often results in a more coarse weave, but these weavers and this piece not only has a great medium pile but also a very nice weave.  Wonderful variations of blush/deep coral hues throughout, with a high sheen, deep inky indigo, beautiful medium blues, soft rose and English rose, lovely chocolate highlights dancing with softer mocha, beige, salmon, etc.  This rug has a lovely 4 royal vase design holding the village flowers as they blossom out of them, slightly creating a shape of a medallion, but not really.  If anything, it forms into this focal point of the rug where everything else blooms from it.  It really is a VERY classical and artistic peice.  Due to the pile and the way these rugs are woven, there will be a darker and deeper side to the rug (when you're looking into the pile-gain), and a lighter side where all the colors glow (when you're looking onto and with the nap of the rug).  This offers dimension, depth, and lovely versatility for your space!  You will LOVE this piece!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you:  Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you.  Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams.  Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world.  All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind.  Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story.  The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that.  Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
