About: Ancient Old, SENSATIONAL northwest tribal piece woven in the best rug weaving territory in my opinion (and in the opinion of many). This piece breaks all the rules as it's not only an all-over design, but it borrows motifs and designs from neighboring villages and presents us with a unique size and a fascinating piece. Beautiful shifts of natural dyes jet through the piece from soft to dark blues with every shade of "red" from warm clay to rusty autumn. A very handsome piece from top to bottom, with a sensational border with geometric and diamond shapes that are influenced by grandfather pieces of this family and village. The subtle nuances in this piece are what draws one in and keep us fixated. These are not very clear immediately, but with time and a curious eye - you will notice more and more and start to develop an appreciation for the weaver's merit. So much heart and soul in this rug from dyes and design, to the weaving itself. The size alone speaks to its age, and the responsible repairs, restorations, and dealer touchups speak to the effort for keeping this beauty intact. Due to its age, it has a fair amount of responsible restorations with the intent of keeping this art transcending for another 100+ years. These repairs are why it's priced so low, otherwise, this would be double to triple the price if it were in flawless condition. Even so, the age and wear and patina on this piece truly are one of its best features. You look at this piece and just know it's old. You can see the soul, the stories, and the wisdom it contains. If nothing else, the clear indicators of its abrash and design flaws lend itself to the nomadic and spontaneous rug weaving art we crave - but the nice life it's already lived and the beyond charming age-related wear it has also taken it to the next level for those that love all things old and raw. This is an old-world piece that plays ever-so friendly with all wood shades, metals, fabrics etc. A decorative "Ralph Lauren" type piece, to say the least. This one is a gem.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
