About: I would, without a doubt put this rug in my home. When you ask the chef at the restaurant, what she would have if she could choose anything on the menu - you order that dish.  I'm by no means calling myself the chef of rugs, but I know rugs better than most and this piece stands out from the majority of rugs I've seen in my entire life.  I would put it in my home for many reasons, but if I had to just choose one - it would be because I feel like I can see the blood, sweat, and tears of the weaver inside this masterpiece.  Raw, unplanned choices she's made that have unfolded and manifested in these colors, unorthodox design - given this was woven in a village that ISN'T known for weaving this design, etc.  I've named it after one of my favorite Stoics, Seneca. His thoughts and words were timeless reminders that the truth is the truth, whether thousands of years ago in Rome or to modern-day. I thought it was fitting for a piece like this that hasn't only stood the test of time, but will carry its many truth and outlast all of us transcending us in our lifetime, and probably the next person that owns this piece after you. This COLLECTABLE Antique Persian Tribal rug is woven in the best rug weaving country in the world, and arguably the most sought after region on the large copper deposits of the northwest mountains where the sheep are healthy and happy that in-turn offers fantastically soft yet strong and durable wool. This rug gives us everything we could ever ask for in a village rug - painfully beautiful design, serious geometric flair, a rich palette of colors, wonderful weave and workmanship, an absolute spontaneity in each knot, and a fantastic unusual and rare size. The rusty terracotta salmon and the sapphire blue are a match made in Heaven, only to be accompanied by the perfect beige, camel, and various earthy notes. An impossible to ignore random teal-ish green poking through some of the widely nomadic motifs and the artistic beauty of the true master artist in the design and slightly over-sized medallion in ratio to the size of the rug. That larger medallion is offset by the negative space flanking it that is decorated with vines and roots with abstract and deconstructed large fish motifs borrowed from the iconic Herati design. Sensational Serapi border with the bridging motifs connecting the turtle/samovar motifs are not only asymmetrical like almost every other motif in this piece, but they manifest in different hues and colors based on the small batch dye process these older pieces were made with. It is very mystical when you're in her presence, and you can sense the energy she possesses every step you take on her. This piece is very mother-like in her all-encompassing beauty and infinitely unusual nomadic elements and decisions made by the weaver. Striking abrash throughout random areas whether in large shifts or smaller areas, this variation in color creates this universe to stare into and get lost. Everything about this rug captures the essence of high-end nomadic rug weaving by true artists and shares the gift of this labor-intensive and impossibly challenging art. Hope you love it as much as I do!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects. Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
