About: How can I put into words a rug so beautiful? I would have to hire a poet, and even then they would fall short because it's an impossible task. Nevertheless, I will try... The design, we know, is the iconic Northwest mountain medallion design that hails from the greatest rug weaving country on the planet, and arguably (in my opinion) the top 3 best rug weaving villages in the world. Striking center medallion with tasteful finials to help balance and elongate the powerful center. The corner spandrels are amongst some of the best we've ever seen - yes two of the four are a water-french blue, and the other two are a slightly darker denim blue. This is incredible, not to mention the brash inside them just to add even more depth. But aside from that, you see the lovely salmon that has always been the color blue's greatest company but also soften with the beige, camel, and even soft blush pink.. but then you see the life of the party - the greens. Lime green, pistachio green, moss green, grass green, and even pastel greens all show up and DAZZLE this rug. The greens in this rug take me back to the lush green vegetation of the Amazon Jungle when I went on an adventure with two friends. I'll never forget all the greens we saw trekking through, and even the large leaf our lunch was bundled up inside of was the exact color green in the border of this rug. These large leafy greens add such an earthy and happy feel to this piece. But, of course, it doesn't stop there. The WATERMELON pink as the MAIN color in this rug is what sends this rug into another dimension. We see the red field all the time, we see the beige and camel fields sometimes, and we even see the navy... but there is something about this color that elevates your mood. It is soothing yet energizing - calm yet lively. A perfect main color to allow the cool shades of blue to flow and pop, the lemony-camel hues to ground it all, and then the greens to electrify. Even the deep indigo vines are the perfect compliment to grow throughout the rug, connecting to geometric flowers and palmettes. The border moves with the artistic green vines against the unusual charcoal black. Pops of cotton candy pinks, ice blues, and even sand show up in petals and the outlines of petals. The rug is filled to the brim with colors and growing motifs, yet somehow still easy for your eyes to digest. That is thanks to the composition and the template of the timeless design - but it's the impromptu and spontaneous uses of colors and village motifs, along with negative space in specific areas to let the eyes enjoy it without being too overwhelmed at once. There is a wow factor to this rug, and as you start to admire it more and more, then you see the depth. You will never tire from this piece, and given the wonderful weave, great sturdy wool, and nice body to this piece - it'll be with you for a very long time. All the ends have been secured by my grandfather and it's all cleaned and ready to go. Elevate your space with beauty and age, and offer art for all to see when they walk into your space; and when they ask about it - you can just say "Timeless design with European size, unreliable artistic merit from the weavers, amazing use of negative space, rare color palette and amazing condition - we're just lucky we stumbled upon it and it's now ours." Because all of this is true.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you:  Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you.  Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams.  Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world.  All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind.  Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story.  The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that.  Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
