About: How can a rug one small knot at a time unfold into this treasure that no one, not even the weavers themselves could ever imagine being this beautiful? Every single element about this rug speaks to the very essence of rug weaving and antique textiles. The deepest of indigo dyes, the purest hand-spun lamb wool, and the most beautiful imagination all came together 100 years ago to create such art, only for us to cherish today and for many moons to come. The botanical design and use of negative space draw your eyes in, the anchoring double pomegranate medallion motifs give you a focal point to start, while the vines and stems take you for a ride throughout the entire rug. The tight and filled border create beautiful contrast from the open field/center, and even the iconic “fence” design flanks the border symbolizing protection and warding off evil as this design is the cousin of the old Turkish Evil Eye 👌🏽 These little details are what add such depth to a piece like this - and if that wasn’t enough - you’ll note the natural color shifts in dyes from deep indigo to navy to midnight blue and almost black throughout this piece; this is what you want in a rug. You want to see the human element. The imperfections. The reminders that anything made by hand can directly speak to the soul. How can a moody rug like this bring so much joy? How could the masterful skill of one woman be appreciated and loved by every eye that witnesses her work? How can complete strangers, the weaver and the observer find a connection through art? It’s these questions that help us realize why anything old and good quality made with love always has a way of moving us - after all - life is art and art is life. This collector's piece I think epitomizes that, as her masterpiece takes you to witness an insight into her mind, life, and vision. This piece is in my top 3 pieces of all time in our collection, and wherever it goes I know it was meant to be.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
