About: Undeniable beauty pouring out of this piece in every direction.  You simply won't find this color palette often; the terracotta field, the incredible amount of pastel to soft olive green, salmon, old English rose, denim to navy to indigo blues, rusty reds with muted pale blues inside the "dirty" antique beige hues of linen meets rugged sheep wool, and eggshell meets soft sand tones.  A tasteful blue-green / teal in many of the petals decorating the geometric flowers that stem off the linear vines give the piece an artistic flow you more often find in Serapi rugs.  This balance of detail with openness honors both elements of Serpai and Heriz rugs in a tango that seems familiar yet foreign.  Often the English language can't capture the emotion and feelings that art provokes in us, and this piece and this writing is a great example - I can only attempt to describe how our eyes are not threatened by the sheer beauty of this piece even though it is filled with a wild and chaotic beauty - one only to be paralleled by stepping into a jungle and seeing life and beauty as it was meant to be. Although overwhelming on one hand, still the organic manifestation of life that we witness somehow seems safe, comfortable, and natural - this is the sense that somehow these master weavers are able to capture in their pieces - this being no exception to the fact.  The nuances throughout are so raw that it makes you wonder if the weavers masterfully chose to purposefully put such imperfections in - or if they are innocent in their humanity and committed to the notion that perfection is impossible and one big charade - after all, these weavers are nomads that live a simple life and are so intuned with nature and the alchemy of life that they truly were so much more advanced spiritually than we are today and it shows in spontaneous weavings like this.  Look at this piece often, and allow yourself to go deep into the art as this is a perfect vehicle to do so.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

As discussed, we will secure all the fringe for you on both sides at no charge to prevent it from unraveling while still keeping its original and untouched look.  In addition, we will tidy up some of the bindings that need it.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
