RESERVED** STUNNING Antique Rug | Wildly Bold and Beautiful Geometric DREAM! | 8.2 x 11 | Hugo
Size: 8.2 x 11
Pile: Low with lovely age-related patina
About: This piece is seriously so attractive it's not even funny! When you're looking for rugs it is important that you not only find one that speaks to you, but also ones that are unique in their color palette and or design. This piece has everything to offer; iconic and all-encompassing design, beautiful age and natural patina, and a color palette that you simply won't find again! So many greens, teals, earthy mocha, camel, saffrons and espresso, sky blue and royal blue, a very attractive red, a wonderful clay-burgundy, soft salmon and English rose, dark inky indigo, and a lovely soft antique beige that softens it up in all the right places - creating that nice contrast and balance. These pieces are woven with extremely durable sheep wool that roams the northwest mountains and drinks from the nearby creeks. This village sits on a large copper deposit so there are traces of copper in the water these sheep drink and over time those traces get into the sheep's wool making it VERY strong - hence why this rug is still in wonderful age-related condition after nearly 85+ years! There is SENSATIONAL abrash throughout the rug shifting from dark blue-black to softer navy in the border and medallion and finials, and also in the red meets deep Burgundy in areas surrounding the medallion. These characteristics are what make this rug truly one of one. It is the birthmark of the rug, and one of the main things we look for when curating these gems. This piece is really a stunner with its decorative color palette and wildly bold and beautiful design. Everything from the border to the field to the geometric filler motifs woven throughout - it's simply a showstopper!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
