We carry authentic Antique rugs and Vintage rugs that are truly one of a kind made all by hand with organic dyes and natural hand-spun wool. These mystical pieces have all been professionally cleaned prior to being listed and ready to use. Our entire collection is carefully curated with an extremely picky and discerning eye that captures the heart and soul of these weavers, and the story they share in their nomadic masterpieces. **Pics are taken in natural light, and it was a nice sunny day. The last overhead shot was taken a little after the sun went down so it's a bit darker. But just know that these pieces have a light and dark side and the hues will change slightly based on what your lighting has, regardless they are beautiful and these photos, like all of our photos, are to be as accurate as possible for you!**

Name: Kay & May

Size: ~ 3.4 x 4.8 (Both about this size, give or take an inch in either direction)

Age: Antique

Pile: Low and Distressed with amazing age-related wear and patina

About: VERY rare to see twin pieces woven, both signed and both beautiful! Botanical gems filled with flora inspired by the field around them. Both have incredible abrash, yet differently - as it should be. Different birthmarks; one with denim blue covering almost half and the other half remaining sky blue, the other with a few more bands throughout, and both with a lemony, creamy, golden, dirty, earthy saffron-gold. Even in the border, you'll see brighter and darker abrash throughout. Pinks, reds, ivory, salmon, lilac, and other hues you will see sprinkled in the details of the flowers inside. An amazing weave on both pieces, very fine giving us that clarity and crispness. Both pieces are naturally worn with age-related patina - authentic as they come. The pieces are about 100 or so years old, and they both have a signature. One you can faintly see as the fringe is worn and the other you can see better. It is just so uncommon to have twin pieces, both signed, both together, and both beautiful. Unfortunately, I will not sell them separately, I believe they should always remain together and if you so choose to buy them as gifts, then in those circumstances I can see them going their separate ways - but the intent is what is most important. I feel it's my obligation to provide them as a package together as my intent is for them to remain together with the same way I got them - and if you have two children, or two parents, or two family members or friends that you want each to have one - in a way, you are joining those two separate parties together thought the idea of these twin pieces. If you have two small kids/children that you would like them to have one of them and for them to have with them as family heirlooms, that is incredible. I couldn't think of many other better ways for them to be used. They can be wedding gifts, birthday gifts, or special collector items that only two people on the planet will have a share - I love the idea of that, and I hope you do too. If you'd like us to secure the ends and preserve them so whoever gets these will get to cherish them for as long as possible, I'll happily have my grandfather do that for you all by hand - for his time we will ask maybe around $75 per piece, a nominal amount for him to put this time, energy and heart into preserving them for you, and them. Let me know if you have any questions at all. Can't wait to see where these beauties go, and please share what you'll do with them as that means a lot to us!

One of one, only one available, and in this rare case, there were twin pieces woven.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
