About this rug: ANCIENT Design inspired by the SAFAVID DYNASTY with interlocking palmettes by way of vines and stems. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS RUG because it is a vessel for history, art, culture, poetry, architecture, humanity, nature, detail, symbolism, and beauty, should I keep going??!! Such poetry in this design, such romance, and such sophistication. The movement that's created by these weavers is incredible, the multi-sized shapes add a nice interest to this piece that keeps your eyes engaged forever. Then you have the colors... How often do you see an entire piece where the field houses the vast variations of true pink, dusty salmon rose, blush with muted watermelon, and even apricot hues. Flanked by an indigo guard border that outlines the true border that is ALSO pink - this pink field and pink border create a more open and larger-than-life feel to the piece that is much more uncommon. This border is clean, easy on the eyes, and does a nice job dancing around the inside decorated with flora with the most beautiful variations of ice and sky blues, French blue, INCREDIBLE pastel army green with muted pistachio, soft mocha, caramel, and earthy taupes - amongst many other colors. It really finds a way to be beautiful nearly a century ago, and equally as beautiful today. This is one of the highest compliments to an artist - for their work to be admired for generations to come. Very fine weave that means it was done by skillful hands, and all-around a work of art that gives new life to the eyes and the soul. This beauty shows us what it means to be beautiful, botanical, and timeless. This piece has some ancient and responsible restoration and touch-ups which of course add to its story and charm - as for anything of high quality with genuine age.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces -  irregularities, ancient old repairs/touch-ups, and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
