Name: CHARMING Antique Southwest Persian Village Rug | Pure Wool with Tri-Medallion Marbling Blues, Greens & Earthy Canary Yellows against BLACKish Blue

Size: 5.8 x 9.3

Age: Antique; C. 1930-40's

Pile: Low with lovely age-related patina. This piece is an incredible textile from the Southwest Mountains with pure wool pile and pure wool foundation giving it a nice floppy handle.  The loom it was woven on must have not been 100% straight so the rug has a wrinkle or two in it, that or the weavers were traveling to warmer climates during the time of weaving this piece so a portion of the rug was woven and unassembled and traveled to the next destination for the tribe where the loom was put back together and this piece was finished - every ounce of these rugs tell a story and it's lovely!  A high-quality custom cut pad it should help it stretch out and flatten a bit.  It is almost similar to a nice flatweave Kilim in terms of handle, except this is true and authentic hand-knotted antique beauty!

About: Undeniably charming village rug with some of the most UNIQUE marbling blues & greens in the alternating Tri-Medallion design throughout! The iconic Qashqai 4-armed medallion motif as the focal point of the medallions is always a sign of what tribes wove these pieces - you can note the masterful dyes and amazing and luxurious floppy textile-like thinness and softness that this piece has making it a versatile rug that can be used on the floor, on the wall, or even over a bed or sofa. I've seen pieces from this family used in all of these scenarios, and it never amazes me just how gorgeous they look in any form.  Definitely a perfect piece for layering on jute or sisal, and I will always recommend a pad from any piece that is woven with wool pile and wool foundation because the pad will give the rug more body.  The unusual BLACKish charcoal indigo really anchors this piece while all the other hues pop so subtly.  In this piece, you'll find blush, espresso, caramel, denim, mocha, antique beige, army greens, ice blues, and more.  The rug seems to have matured over time offering our eyes some really nice subdued shades.  This piece is one of the older and better examples of what I've seen with a fantastic size for those unique spaces!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
