About: HOLD THE PHONE! You will not see another piece like this, EVER AGAIN. Yes I'm shouting because Heriz usually does room size pieces, and if they weave runners they're usually a shade of red and shorter, and if they weave them they're usually not this long - but this piece is LONG, NARROW, BLUE, BEAUTIFUL, OLD, MINT CONDITION, and FROM THIS VILLAGE. Ok, I'm done yelling but this piece is so wild that it even exists, and magically it's in our collection for that that I'm grateful, and feel it's my duty to make sure it finds the perfect owner.
A bit about this piece for Leslie: This piece hails from the Northwest Mountains of Iran, modern-day Persia and woven with some of the strongest wool on earth. This wool is so good because the lifestyle of the sheep - high altitudes, great diet, lots of love, and this region sits on a copper deposit, which over millennia, the traces of copper leak into the drinking water of the sheep, giving their wool a stronger durability - how amazing is that?! Other things to note is that the narrowness of this piece signals the intention that it was woven for the American or European market, perhaps commissioned for someone specific - they aren't just weaving these random dimensions and hoping they can sell it, I believe there was a buyer or specific interest before it was woven. Lastly, this design in th eborder is the iconic Bakshayesh border, but the design in the field is quite unusual as Heriz runners don't often have this small of a width to weave in so for someone that sees many rugs daily, this spacious and minimal tribal design with the medallions and the half geometric/jagged leaf or Boteh/Seed motif is really appealing! And did I mention the colors are incredible and these hues indicate that the rug was woven in the first half of the 20th century, and most likely the first QUARTER of the 20th century, so C. 1920-30's ish.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
