About: One of the most iconic and symbolic rugs ever woven - these pieces have been a favorite for rug collectors and enthusiasts that appreciate not only the true art of rugs but the historic and geographical aspect of this art as well. The reason this design is the grid design, also known as the garden design, the panel design, and the four-seasons rug - is because these weavers have their gardens on a grid with water flowing through the grid areas where the flowers and/or vegetables are grown. Efficient, symmetrical, and ancient - their lives are woven inside of their rugs - how beautiful is that? In each square in these rugs, it is said that each symbolizes a moment of Heaven on earth, and no touching squares are alike. Looking closely you will see iconic trees like the Cypress tree that symbolizes a direct path to Heaven, the weeping willow tree that is a sign of protection the way the branches protect you from the sun, decorative single trees that symbolize the tree of life, and many more. Palmettes and flora also fill these squares inspired by the ingredients of which they gather for the dyes for the rug. These rugs capture the perfect balance of classical and geometric in terms of aesthetics, and to contrast the structure of the panels in the field - you will notice the unbelievably artistic and arabesque root and vines meandering in the infinitely deep indigo, navy, and dark denim blue border. The espresso, mocha, and earthy milk chocolate hues against the beautiful blues symbolize balance where the browns represent the ground and the blues symbolize the sky. The rug is just filled with these kinds of powerful and timeless symbolism that energize the rug and provide the soul we all desire in these items, objects, and art inside our home. This piece is as decorative as they come as it's jam-packed with every beautiful color the world has seen. You will love this rug, and with every piece of history, culture, and artistic merit it offers trust us.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
