Name: ONE-OF-ONE ANCIENT MYSTICAL ART Antique Persian Serapi | MINT CONDITION Top-Notch GEM

Size: 9.11 x 13.10

Age: Antique, C. 1900's

Pile: MINT CONDITION. We had this piece sent overseas and fully restored by master weavers and they have honored this piece and the weavers that wove it 120 years ago! This piece is for the design and art lovers that really want a genuinely ancient old piece but in superb condition - HERE IT IS.

About: Almost UNBAREBLY Beautiful - this is like looking into the Sun, you can't look at it for too long or you will go blind, that's how powerful it is!! Ancient dyes soaked in organic wool and tied one small knot at a time to create this Epic masterpiece.  Look how CRISP the motifs in the border are! How naive and spontaneous the Mother Medallion and the Motifs that surround it are.  All inspired by nature + the imagination of the weavers all actualized into this rare-sized and beautifully balanced work of Art. This ONE-OF-ONE TRUE GEM hails the Mountains of the Northwest.  Incredibly rich saturated yet refined colors drank by strong and robust sheep's wool from remote regions of the world.  Double madder-root border and field that departs from the typical contrasting border and field color.  This use of similar colors in both areas creates a larger-than-life feel and actually helps the center medallion stand out more, and of course, accompanied by the gorgeous 4 corner spandrels.  Rusty-coppery Autumn Reds from Organic Madder root, deep blues and medium blues from Indigo plants, apricot and deep nude with tones of salmon meets amber that work so well with the aqua and variations of Seafoam that grab your eyes and don't give them back! Large root-like motifs as Flower pedals in the medallion all surrounding the smaller "eye of the flower" in the center - you can see just how spontaneous the weavers were as each row they finished got them closer to revealing the design in real-time - adjusting, switching, changing sizes of motifs and placement of vines and flora to achieve balance in the most artistic and organic way.  And, maybe my favorite element to this piece - the first inch or so of the rug inside the field was woven and they abandoned that exact design and color combo and just continued above the first few rows they already wove giving us the 99% design that we see, but this stutter-step offers us a peek behind the curtain as to the minds of the weaver 120 years ago at the Loom (I point this out in the last picture). INCREDIBLE stuff, this is what it's all about.  This is a true Masterpiece where these photos just capture the energy it has when you're in proximity to it.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
